Having Trouble on Changing my Xbox Gamertag

I'm just trying to change my Xbox Gamertag through the website and everything because I REALLY hate my old username. When I clicked the option to change it, it already gives me an error saying:

Error: one or more services are experiencing an outage. Please try again later.

It's been ages since I've accessed my Xbox Live account and I don't recall ever trying to change the Gamertag before, since I stopped using Xbox consoles (which the last one I've ever used was the Xbox 360). Is this supposed to happen and I'm just supposed
to wait a couple days or whatever? Or is this an actual error specific to me? Please I need to change my awful username.

Thanks! This actually helped! Before I was using Google Chrome to change the gamertag, but when I used Internet Explorer, it actually worked this time. Though, I'm not sure why it didn't work for me on Google...? Anyways, thanks again for helping me out!

That error is definitely not normal and the gamertag system may be going through some maintenance. Have you tried changing your gamertag using another device and different browsers as well? https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag

If you have, I would suggest contacting Xbox customer support to report the issue and help you out with changing your gamertag to what you desire. Here are the best steps to request a callback from customer support:

https://beta.support.xbox.com/contact-us.
Select Contact Us.
Select "Account & profile" in the first drop-down and then "I need a Microsoft account" in the second drop-down
If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to log in to your Microsoft Account at this point.
Once logged in, scroll down in the window to Other options and select Request a Call.
You can add additional information at this point if you'd like and then select Request call
A new window will open for you to enter your Country/region and your best contact number, then select Confirm and you'll be placed in a queue to receive a call back from Customer Support

It looks like Xbox Live is experiencing some issues at the moment it may be worth waiting for these issues to be resolved and then try again and hopefully you will then be able to change your gamertag.
