Having problems with my Xbox one console

Does the console shut off when it overheats?

The console heating up during use (to a certain degree) is normal, but the "loose sound" you are hearing is not.

I would recommend you send it for repairs if this sound is loud or harsh.

if you are getting the 'Takes too long' message with almost everything you try then I suggest to do a factory reset (with keeping games and apps installed) via the following steps:

1. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
   
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug the power cord back in.
4. Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the
   EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the
   Xbox button on the console.
5. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. Note If you don't hear two power-up tones after 15 seconds, it means this failed. Likewise, if you hear any “power-down” chirps, that also means this failed.
7. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

This should show a menu with the option to do a factory reset, please try that and follow the steps. It will give the option too if you want to keep games and apps installed

I've been having the same issues, and talking to support just tells me to do a factory reset, then in fine for a few days up to a week then same issues again. Clearly it is only a temporary fix and they cant tell you a real fix to the problem.
