Having problems reading and playing disc

Hi all my Xbox one started playing up recently it stopped reading DVD's and will read Xbox games but want load them. Some load but sound crackly and very laggy so I am unable to play tried turning it off at the plug and restarting it but still no joy. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello Jake, you've tried some procedure on your console like doing a cache cleanup or resetting the console while keeping games and App if you haven't tried to follow the procedures below.

Cache

1. Go to xbox press and hold the XBOX power button on your console for 10 seconds until it turns off

2. Wait 10 seconds for it to turn off

3. Wait 1 minute with it off

4. Turn it back on

Xbox One reset keeping Games:

Press the Xbox button to open the panel.

Select system > system > console > system

Select Reset console.

Restore and maintain my games and apps.

Rest assured, you won't miss games or saves

Note - You need to know the email and passwords of your accounts when performing this reset.

besides, now you wont have problems with a disc being scratch by your console

and the disc will play smoother cause it wont read a disc, it will read your HDD

So anybody have this read disc error got the problem solved?

I really want to play it but it seems even exchanging disc is no use.

We should urge Microsoft/Activision to give us an update asap or refund!!

My disc is totally brand new and without scratch.

My console can read any other disc except MW3.

My friend can play my disc with no problem, why just me?

The problem is that you are trying to play several games that are 360 disc based on your xbox one and that are not part of the backward compatibility list. For example RE 4 has a new version for xbox one and you can't use the xbox 360 disc to play it (it
will not read the disc at all)

As for the rest of your disc based games (that are part of the bc list) check if they are scratched or damaged in the surface. There is no reason for a new console's disc driver to have problems in reading discs other than those caused by the damaged or
unknown disc games

You could also have problems with the disc laser. If the laser is weakening, it will have trouble reading discs. I was having that problem for awhile also. As soon as I fixed the laser strength, it read all my discs and haven't had problems since.
