Having issues with Xbox Live on Xbox 360

Hello Xoidren,

In addition to the in-router steps provided to you by White Panda, you may also want to try connecting your 360 to a different wireless network. This can help you quickly gauge whether the issue is coming from the consoles network card, or from the networks
wireless configurations.

A hotspot would be the easiest method of using a different network. Another home network would be ideal.

For assistance with setting up a static IP or a DMZ, I recommend contacting your service provider.

So I re-updated, but unfortunately that didn't

seem to help. In fact, this time when I did the network test it failed on the download speed part. The problem is very strange considering it's upload speed is fine and it's wifi speed is also fine so I am wondering if the xbox is incompatoble with my router
or something which is causing download issues. The thing that baffles me the most is that the internet does work, but it's just unusably slow. It seems weird that the card would be broken but still kind of work instead of just not work at all. Oh well, thanks

Are you able to access to settings on the router? If so, try putting the console on a static IP address and then adding it to the DMZ, some routers block ports needed for xbox live to function over wireless by default

Thanks for the update with your reply! Glad that your 360 is able to connect via a hard wired Ethernet connection. As for re-updating the console, it is definitely worth a try, just to be sure that all bases have been covered. Then you'll definitely know
if it is the wireless card or not.

The console is wireless built-in. The service alert appears when testing the connection with Xbox live service in the networks settings. The service alert does not, however, appear when I sign in on the Xbox status page that you linked to.

I suppose I could try connecting via ethernet to see if maybe it's my console's wireless that's broken. But that doesn't make much sense considering that during the network test that I ran it said the connection between Console > router > internet was
fine but the Xbox live servers were what I was having trouble with.
