Having issues with the controller

Can you please confirm if you have checked to see if there is a controller firmware update available for your controller that may help with your problem?

Perform a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

Thank you I have just done this and it seems to be working. The question is how long cause as I said a regular restart works for a while so I am hoping a hard restart will work longer or forever.

Thanks for reaching out to us regarding the controller randomly disconnecting. Verify that your controller batteries aren’t causing this issue. Note that a controller with low battery level might turn on briefly but not stay on for long.

You can also use a USB to micro-USB cable to connect your controller to your Xbox. Plug the micro-USB end into the top of the controller, and the USB end into the USB slot on the side or back of the console. The cable will provide both power and a wired
connection to the controller
