Having a double gamertag issue

The other gamertag was with an # aswell.

in games i know it could take a long time, i did see that with my other account, it still shows my old gt aswell on games but not on xbox.

Like i can see all the other people who have changed they'r gamertag with an # normally like no 2 gamertags.

maybe its indeed a server with the old system.

like on here now it shows , thats old.

both accounts are on the same region (europe)

If more people have 2 gamertags because of the change, ill wait till the updates are done next year.

It depends on which servers your accounts are, as Microsoft is transitioning their servers bit by bit. So maybe your other gamertag was stored on a server that has already moved to the new system.

Or, in order to allow people to get already taken Gamertags, the new system adds a small number to the gamertag, like Discord or Battle.net already does.

Maybe your other new gamertag was not taken yet, and you got a new Gamertag without number, as the name was unique.

ok thank you for your message, the odd thing is when i did change my other account his gamertag it did work normal.

no other gamertag under it..

it only happend with this one, thats why i found it a bit strange.

When i login on the xbox website with this gamertag what i changed it shows me the old gt still, but on my second account where i also changed the gamertag, when i login it shows up with the new gamertag.

Xbox is currently changing the Gamertag system.

During that transition period, you might see your old gamertag as well as your new one.

Current and older games that don't know of the new Gamertag system will still show your old Gamertag. And it can take until 2020 until the full transition to the new Gamertag system works in all games.

So currently what you see is not an error. It's just how Gamertags are handled during this transition to the new Gamertag system.
