Haven't received 10 dollar gift code that comes with digital purchase

I bought Forza Horizon 3 for my xbox on the microsoft site and it says it comes with a free 10 dollar digital gift card and I haven't received it.

Reward Points issued instead of Gift Card

On 8/3/15 I pre-ordered Rare Replay and it was to come with a 10 Dollar Gift card. After placing the order I received a conformation e-mail and this was at the bottom.

"Rare Replay for Xbox One - Additional Product Information:

Your $10 Xbox gift card code will be sent to email address associated with purchase within 10 days of game being shipped."

I pre-ordered a game off the Microsoft Store online and never received the 10 Dollar gift card for pre-ordering. After working with support online I found that this was issued reward points and not the gift card I was expecting. I was planning on using this
in store or on-line. If there is a way to use points in either of these place I'm unaware.

Please help. Why did I get points and not a gift card? Can I use points in store? What do I need to change so that I am issued a Card and not points for future purchases.

“I have not received my Fallout 3 code after 10 calendar days.”

It has been almost a year and still haven't gotten a promo code.

The $10 gift code is for preordering games through microsoftstore.com. Digital purchases are not eligible for that offer.

You would need to contact customer support for microsoftstore.com if you purchased a digital code from them since that offer would have been through them. Generally with their preorder offer, the codes are emailed about 10 business days after the games ship.
So it may be too soon to have received the code.

If you purchase a digital game as a gift, my understanding is that it immediately gifts it to them and applies to their account as if they purchased it themselves. You would have to purchase a digital code for the game (if available) in order to receive a
code.

When you buy as a gift, it asks for an email address and sends a code to that email first.

The $10 gift codes are a promotion if you preordered the games from microsoftstore.com. So you would need to contact their customer support for assistance since that offer is through them. Keep in mind that if you are a rewards member, you would have received
15,000 credits instead of the $10 gift codes.

If you purchased the games digitally, you would not have been eligible.
