    Have Xbox Live Gold but cannot play online


    I activated a pre-paid 3 months of Xbox live and have not been able to play online and create/join parties all afternoon. I am however able to access games with Gold and the subscriptions page states the membership is active. I have tried restarting multiple
    times and removed my account from the xbox then re-downloading it with no success. When I try to perform either action they buy gold prompt pops up on the screen and I get an error stating I do not have a gold membership.

    i just bought a new xbox series x today for the sole purpose that i heard the old cod games servers where back working but i had to make a new account and it won’t let me play mw2 online

    To play online multiplayer you need an Xbox Live Gold subscription. If you don't have that, then you cannot play online.

    You need a paid Xbox LIVE Gold membership in order to play online with others. Your account has a free membership and cannot play online with others.

    Hey Hanrastic -

    To clarify, when you say "cannot play games online" are you referring to online multiplayer? If so, you will need an active Xbox Live Gold subscription to be able to participate in online matchmaking. Your current account is reflecting Xbox Live Silver status
    which allows you to access apps such as Netflix. Here is some more information regarding
    Xbox Live Gold.
