    Hello,

So I put in my first CD to install Call of Duty, and the Xbox Series X makes this loud noise when it is standing vertically. When it is standing horizontally it doesn't make the noise.

well hello, my CD drive is making a weird sound like a shaver so my question is can i use my xbox without using discs?+ can this weird sound damage the other devices part

Hi there! My name is Darhyl and I’d be more than happy to help you with your query.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this with your Xbox disc drive. No worries, let me help you sort this out.

It's important to note that this is a public user-to-user community forum, and none of us here work for Microsoft.

I just want to confirm, are you inquiring if you can use your Xbox disc games without inserting it into your Xbox console?

If yes, I'm afraid it is necessary to insert your disc games if you want to play them on your console.

However, if you mean that you're asking if you can use your Xbox console without disc games, yes you can play digital games instead if you're avoiding using your console disc drive.

Based on the information I've gathered, it doesn't seem like the Xbox console disc drive noise problem is a serious issue. There don't seem to be any major issues with the console. Some reported that the loud noise occurs if they positioned their console vertically but if they placed it horizontally the loud noise stops.

If you experience any technical issues even the slightest, I highly suggest you check for your free warranty repair order for your console using the link below:

why will my xbox 360 disc drive open when sideway's but will not open when upright

well all Xbox 360 disc drives are getting pretty elderly, but also, it's more stress to load a disc in the vertical position, I never recommend anyone do it except on a series X

    Xbox One Fan Issue

My fan was making a clicking noise, so I used the stand and set it in a vertical position and now it's all good.

    @Moosechops

"Make sure your Xbox 360 is horizontal and not vertical. For some reason when you put your Xbox in the vertical position it make more noise than if it were horizontal. If it is horizontal, is it scratching your discs? If it is scratching your dics then there
is a problem with your console. Use this link to contact support.

One last thing if you have not already tried it..... Install your games to your hardrive. Doing that always makes my games run with less noise. Good luck to you and let me know if any of these suggestions helped you. Have a good day."

If a game is installed it doesn't "make the game run with less noise" it cancels the use of the disk and plays it from the hard drive... not to be disrespectful but just saying

Disc Drive spins really fast when 360 is turned off

It's definitely the disc because the noise stops when I eject the tray. It's hard to know whether ejecting the disc before shutting down makes any difference because the problem is so intermittent, but the volume of noise seems unlikely to be coming from
the fan - it's *really* loud. It sounds like one of those old 40x or 50x CD-ROM drives they used to put in PCs.
