Hard drive not showing correct capacity after Xbox 360 format

Hard drive not showing correct capacity after Xbox 360 format
I recently obtained a hard drive that had a significant portion allocated to recovery. Figuring that the Xbox 360 would erase all of the data on the drive and free up the whole space on it, I proceeded to do so. However, I discovered that only the non-recovery
portion was available after the format, both on Xbox and Windows. Tinkering with Disk Management failed to reverse the issue; the drive was unable to be expanded on Windows 10. Is there any solution to restore the missing space on the drive?

NOTE: I did ask the Windows support forum, but they referred me to here. This is a repost of the question I initially gave to them.

    :)

External Hard Drive cant recognize files

I have a 500gb external hdd that i use with my xbox 360, because there was a cap of 32gb on usb i had to use multiple Xbox360 folders inside the hard drive, switching between each one through a PC, i saw on the xbox page that if the storage unit didnt show
up with the full capacity, i needed to format, before that i copied all the 3 Xbox360 folders in the PC to put them back in after formatting the hard drive, now that i formatted it it wont recognize the files i copied back in. Is there any way to transfer
them from the computer to the hard drive instead of downloading everything again?

    Help me

    Format Hard Drive

I'm having issues formatting my hard drive for the xbox 360S. Hard drive keeps showing up "unformatted" so I format the hard drive and nothing happens, Xbox keeps saying that it is unformatted. Any solutions to this problem??

How to make 2TB in USB Flash disk (XBOX 360 S)

    Hello Milan,

If all you have is a flash drive with a capacity of 32GB, you cannot format it to magically have 2TB of space. You would need to buy a new external storage device (typically a hard drive or SSD) that has a capacity of 2TB; you would then be able to format
this device for use with your Xbox 360.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Xbox 360 was recognizing Hard Drive, now it isnt showing up?

There isn't a way as fas as I know . The hard drive holds certain information that the Xbox needs to identify it as an Xbox hard drive and I suspect this information has been wiped from your drive.

Not that it's much use to you now but
    HERE
is the correct way to do the data transfer from one xbox hard drive to a new xbox hard drive.

Did you format the drive on your PC maybe? this could be why it's showing as a regular NTFS formatted drive.

32 GB? Official hard drives never came in that capacity. My 20 GB drive has about 16 GB after system allotment and the stupid Gbit to Gbyte conversion. Try to format your device.

Solid red light on Xbox 360

Can you turn the console off and
remove the hard drive from the console
    ?

After removing the hard drive, try starting the console. Does it start now? Then the hard drive became corrupted, during the format. Check that the hard drive is really an original Xbox 360 hard drive, and not a third party Xbox 360 compatible hard drive.

If the console still shows a solid red light check your TV, if it shows an error message.

If an error message is shown, please post the exact wording.

If the console still doesn't boot up, it might be defective. However, Microsoft stopped servicing Xbox 360 consoles, so you won't get it repaired anymore.

Game Drive - you need to attach an xbox 360 hard drive

Smwutches is correct on this one. You need an official Xbox 360 hard drive installed in your Xbox 360 to play original Xbox game discs, as that drive has the required emulator to play the original Xbox games. Your model Xbox 360
requires a drive with a capacity of 250GB, 320GB or 500GB. These drives are no longer manufactured, but you might still find one online shopping sites such as eBay or amazon.
