Hard drive detected but games no showing up?

I’ve never had any trouble with my hard drive and I’ve had for at least 4+yrs. Last night I was going to load up a game and when I launched the game I got “game needs to be ‘ready to start’ to launch”. Which makes no sense cause the day before I was playing the same game perfectly fine. I already reset my Xbox and kept my games and apps but once the Xbox reset my games on my drive are gone and will not show up but my Xbox does detect the drive. Also any of the actual disc games that I have those are gone as well and not even under ‘games I own’. I tried to redownload the game to my Xbox but the installation does not progress and stops on its on. I already changed the wire for the drive and switched usb ports and my Xbox is update so at this point I’m not sure what I need to do

    :)

Hard drive detected but games no showing up?

There was no initial warning when it happened. I was playing the night before no problem and the next day I was on YouTube going to switch to a game and when I went to launch the game it was telling me it needed to be installed to play but I was just playing it the day before no problem. I had already tired doing 1-4 and nothing was working. Unfortunately I had formatted the hard drive not knowing that it was gonna be reset to basically brand new

Hard drive detected but games no showing up?

    Hello Dory heredia,

Welcome to Xbox Forums. We appreciate for sharing your concern with us and we hope that you are doing well today other than this account issue.

We are sorry to hear that. It seems like you’re having trouble with your Xbox. Based on what you’ve described, it could be an issue with the game itself or the hard drive.

Let us check on this together and sort this out to assist your concern. However, before we proceed, we would like to ask few questions about it.

    1. Was this happening to other games?
    2. Was there recent activity or changes made before the issue appeared?
    3. Do you mind sending a screenshot of the exact error message, minimizing your personal information?

These above questions would help us provide the necessary information. Once we have gathered all the information, we will formulate the viable solution to help you with your case.

For the meantime, you can try the following steps to see if it helps.

    1. Unplug the hard drive from your Xbox and plug it back in.
    2. Try a different USB port on your Xbox.
    3. Try a different hard drive if you have one.
    4. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

You may also try to check this link for more guidance. How to install games and apps on an Xbox console | Xbox Support.

Let us know the result and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We may recommend further troubleshooting steps once we have received your answers to the above questions.

Hard drive detected but no games show?

You have too install games onto the connected hardrive first for them too be able too be seen or played. First set up the harddrive so it is connected too your xbox then download any game you want onto your xbox harddrive and once it is download if you
select it in the options and menus then you should be able too see the downloaded games on your harddrive. You can also transfer data between your xbox and your external harddrive so that you have games stored on your harddrive rather than your xbox. Hope
this helps you and good luck.

Hard drive detected but no games show?

Was it a brand new HDD? If it was a brand new harddrive there are normally no games on it. If you set it up that the harddrive is used for games and apps than it should work fine. You could test it by copy a game from the internal hdd to the external hdd.

If it was a used HDD and worked on your Xbox One before it should be an error. In that case a power cycle should maybe fix the issue.
