Halo MCC update bugged and now I can't uninstall...

The latest MCC update with Combat Evolved failed when I downloaded it. I restarted my computer, and when I reopened the Xbox app Halo MCC had the big purple "Play" button. Problem is, anytime I click "Play" nothing happens. The app doesn't even try to launch,
nothing in task manager.

So next, I tried to right click and "Uninstall" - when I do this nothing happens, except the big purple button changes to "Install".

If I click "Install", the purple button immediately changes to "Play".

Then I thought to delete the game files manually, but I can't find them - even googling where the install files are located didn't turn up results (unless I missed something, they're stored in app data? Others were having issues finding it as well.)

All other games launch fine, I'm just stumped on how I might get Halo MCC working again

Thanks schnurren - looks like the game files are in a folder "WindowsApps" under Program Files or the root of an external drive. I wasn't able to delete it there, restricted access [maybe a gamepass thing?].

What ended up fixing it? Run command prompt in admin and enter "wsreset.exe" - this will clear the Windows Store cache and then automatically open the Microsoft Store where there's a different interface than the Xbox(Beta) app which has the ability to redownload
the game ...

TL;DR - Microsoft is clearly cornering the market on PC game stores.

I'm having the same issue! I can't start Master Chief Collection after the Halo 2 update. I uninstalled MCC and now I can't even reinstall MCC! other games seem to be fine starting the download but none of the Halo games work anymore.

Search for command prompt in your search bar, right click and run as administrator

type "wsreset.exe" then hit enter

This clears the windows store cache; seems like issues with MCC install can make windows store think the game is both installed and uninstalled at the same time, and this clears out whatever cached data is confusing it I think.

Hi I think the offer your talking about has expired now but I think they are in the process of building in halo 3 odst in to the updated version of mcc that is currently in beta. This is the latest update about the new mcc here
