Halo MCC on pc not allowing me to join my friend

We understand that you're experiencing issues joining your friend in Halo MCC on PC. Since this game is related to Xbox, we recommend that you both try to launch Xbox app and Xbox Game Bar to see if you both can use the apps.

As there is a known issue with Steam only friends per stated here:

Please check if you can add both of your gamertags on Xbox and if you are restricted or getting an error message, please allow your parents to manage your account by giving this guide to them: Manage Xbox online safety and privacy settings | Xbox Support. If you are both an adult, please head to account privacy settings and make sure that both of you have enabled multiplayer, add friends and joining party.

Next, try to troubleshoot the issue following Steam troubleshooting like verifying the integrity of your game files.

Once, all good with the set up try to check if you can join the party of your friend.

Halo 5: Forge is available, which has some features, and allows you to create maps and play limited multiplayer, but for now that is the extent of its availability on PC. That said, it wouldn't be completely wild to think that they would, at one point,
put it out on PC either standalone, as an add-on for MCC, or package it into MCC at a later date. For now I'm pretty sure their focus is on Halo: Reach on PC (+ Steam) via the MCC and Halo: Infinite, so I wouldn't hold my breath. Would be nice to round out
that series and further increase the value of MCC or Xbox Game Pass for PC.

It gets a bit complicated. If you have Gamepass then all should instal. The console will allow you to have Halo 5: Guardian, Halo Wars 2, Halo Wars De, Halo Spartan Assault and Halo MCC installed. The PC allows Halo CE, Halo, Halo Forge, Halo Wars 2,
Halo Wars DE, Halo Wars Spartan Assault, Halo Wars Spartan Strike and Halo MCC to be installed.

As for paying vs. free, the Microsoft Store should handle that. It might need resetting using a cmd prompt at admin level of wsreset. It takes a bit.

I have had to uninstall and redownload MCC to get it to capture all, but it works!

Not everyone is able to join Halo MCC Insider
