    Halo MCC bought on Steam, wont show up in Xbox App for Windows


    So, I bought Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam. I have connected my steam account to my Xbox App for Windows ( I did this to play Halo Infinite with some friends who were using Xbox systems). Despite this, Halo MCC is not showing up as purchased in the Xbox app for windows, and thus I can not play the campaign with my Xbox buddies, which is my end goal. Research hasn’t come up with anything conclusive. Can anyone help me out here?

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

    The game will only show up on Xbox App or Microsoft Store if if was purchased on Microsoft Store itself, connecting Steam account to Xbox will not do the trick. You will be needing to purchase it through Microsoft Store itself.

    does on xbox a lot of the time, but i have had it happen with forza 3 and 4 on pc and halo mcc, so i gave up and bought on steam as steam can verify files and i never get a failed update.

    It doesnt help that alot of the games are in vxd format (virtual xbox disc) and basically is an image.

    but i think halo mcc is just files but in the encrypted folders, i dont think windows can verify the files if the update fails.

    Why can't I get a refund on a game I or the receiver can't play?

    i gave up with support a while ago now, Microsoft do not support the customer.

    I own Halo MCC on console from years ago, also own it on xbox app as bought there but i also bought it on steam and that is where i primarily play it.

    HALO MCC is going to Steam soon so i wont rule this out either. Only time will tell.
