Halo infinite causing high utilization usage

mine sits at 27% for cpu and 68% gpu on high, so something else could be causing it

Thanks for coming to the Xbox forums! I'm sorry that Halo Infinite is causing extreme utilization usage for your CPU and GPU. I'll note that my computer does the same thing when I play Halo, so I hope my suggestions help. For reference, my PC has a GeForce ROG Strix 2070 and an AMD Ryzen 3800x.

First, in-game make sure that your graphic settings are set as low as they can go. My current Halo Infinite save is set to the lowest graphic quality and I wouldn't have even guessed. It still looks really good! I also recommend making sure that your FPS is limited. When you have Halo Infinite launched, open Settings and navigate to the Video tab. Then, under your Display section, find Minimum and Maximum Frame Rate. I personally set both of those to 60 FPS.

Some people state that the in-game FPS limiters do not work, so if you want to make sure that the framerate is limited then you can do so by using the Nvidia Control Panel. Open Nvidia Control Panel on your PC and click "Manage 3D settings" under the 3D Settings section. From here, you can make changes to Global settings (will make changes to all programs) or to Program Settings (make changes to certain games or apps). I recommend using Program Settings.

Under the drop-down menu in Program Settings, select the game or app that you would like to make changes to. In this case, Halo Infinite. If the game is installed on your main drive it should show in the initial drop-down list. I had to select the "Add" button next to the drop-down menu and add Halo Infinite to my list since I have my game saved on a secondary drive.

When you have the game selected, then you can select the feature you would like to modify. From this list, locate Max Frame Rate and change the drop-down list next to Max Frame Rate from Off to On. There will be a slider that you can move to your desired frame rate, which I recommend being 60.

See if this helps! If you are still struggling, then I recommend that you bring your Resolution Scale to 1080p in the Video Settings down so that the game upsamples for better performance. Additionally, making sure that the game is in Fullscreen will help with performance.

Not using any sound enhancing thing.

Waiting on my 5800x to check if it's because of sometimes high CPU usage. Because I usually get distortion when CPU usage is high on Halo.

And maybe it's just coincidence.

This did not work for me, quite disappointing! Halo Infinite is the only game that's causing this issue.

My Surface PRO suffers from both issues already known when the device was marketed: Heat and short battery life. It gets hot just checking email or reading news. Maybe it gets hot faster gaming, I've not tried to measure it. Think of it this way: When you
put a hot rod (Core i5) under the hood you have to supply energy, and lots of it, and you have to eliminate waste heat. That's probably not the answer you're looking for, but it works for me.
