    Halo 2 not playing


    I got the Limited Collector's Edition of Halo 2 and tried playing it on 360 after verifying it was supported, however, it would not run on my Xbox, only on my friend's. My friend has a different model (neither of us can identify it, however). I followed
    all the steps Microsoft outlined, such as re-installing system updates and clearing the system cache, but nothing works. I have a 4GB Slim model, however I purchased and installed an official 250GB hard drive.

    What game are you trying to play?: Halo 2

    Is it a disc or downloaded version?: Disc version

    What type of console are you using?: 4GB Slim

    What size HDD are you using?: 250GB

    What error code or message are you receiving?: The game couldn't start. Try downloading the game again.

    I started with Halo 2 before playing ever playing Halo 1 (Halo CE).

    Is this an Official Xbox 360 250gb hard drive? Does the disc have any scratches or smudges and are you connected to Xbox Live while you're trying to play?

    I bought it from ebay, but it was unopened, still in package.

    Did the package look like this? -

    Most of the hard drives sold on ebay are knock offs and won't work with original Xbox games. If you have access to other original games, you may want to try those too to see if they will work.

    Yes, it looked like that. I also tried two other original games; MechWarrior and Fable. Neither of those worked, so I guess I've found the reason it won't work. Thanks.

    First buy Halo: CE Anniversary. It is a remake of the first Halo game with updated graphics.

    Halo 2 is backwards compatible on 360 so you can buy the original version and it will play after an update. (You can't play Halo 2 multiplayer anymore though).

    ODST comes with 2 discs. One disc is a campaign that takes place between Halo 2 and 3, you play as an ODST soldier instead Master Chief. The second is Halo 3 multiplayer but has all of the downloadable maps included on disc.
