Yes it is the same account. Infact its the same email. my Mojang account uses the same email as my Microsoft account. This only started happening when Microsoft stated they would be merging accounts with Mojang.

I did the process of merging and now I no longer own minecraft.

When you redeemed your Java Minecraft on Mojang, you have gotten a 5x5 code to redeem Minecraft on the Windows 10 store.

This redemption is a separate service of your Mojang account, and it's possible to use a Microsoft Account email that is different from your Mojang account email.

Mojang (which gives you Java Minecraft) is separate from the Microsoft Windows Store App, which uses a Microsoft Account email when you redeemed that 5x5 code.

After redemption of that code, the Windows 10 Minecraft is tied to the Microsoft Account email you used on your Windows 10 PC. From then on, you don't really need the Mojang account anymore, if you only want to play on Windows 10. You will then get the game
from the Windows 10 store only, with the E-Mail account you used on the Windows 10 store during code redemption.

So make sure you are signed in with the Microsoft Account email (which might not necessarily be the Mojang account email) when you use the Windows 10 Store app to re-download your Windows 10 Minecraft again.

Hello again, I don't know what kind of email you used to open your Minecraft account, if you used an email with a Microsoft domain you can try to retrieve it using the form, however if it wasn't, I believe that Mojang support informed you correctly and it will not be possible to recover your account.

What happened was they had a minecraft account with Mojang (it had NOT been migrated to a Microsoft account yet) and someone got into his Mojang account and then proceeded to migrate his minecraft account to their own Microsoft account (not one the OP owns)

I did migrate my Mojang Account to a Microsoft Account.

I did get an email to confirm the migration went well.

The email address of my Mojang Account is the same email address than that of my Microsoft Account.

The migration took place on 20 juli 2022

Mojang has confirmed me, just before they closed my ticket, that there was no paid Minecraft Content active on my Gamertag .

Does it help that I noticed that my Gamertag on the Mojang Account was different than that of my Microsoft Account.

Both helpdesks had me run through the article you mentioned. Microsoft had me also reinstall the Minecraft Launcher.

Of course I remember the Microsoft account. It's the one I used to sign in both to the Mincecraft Launcher and this forum to make this post. Also yes, to reiterate I have been playing Minecraft with no issue for months on a migrated account. Specifically I had my Mojang email migrated to a Microsoft email on the date 10/25/21.
