Guitar hero xbox 360 xplorer controller won't power on when connected to pc.

No it won't work.

If you have older Xbox 360 instruments, there is a Rockband adapter where you can connect older Xbox 360 wireless instruments through that adapter.

But since the Guitar Hero Live controller has 3 pairs of "white/black" buttons instead of the five colored buttons, the Guitar Hero Live guitar is not compatible with Rockband 4. Please check

this compatibility matrix for which instruments are compatible with Rockband 4.

If the game doesn't detect the Mic, then it won't work. Alternatively you can connect your Xbox headset mic to your controller and use that for some Guitar Hero titles.

I'm tempted to pick up some of the Guitar Hero games for my 360 but I can't find any actual (reasonably priced) guitar hero controllers anywhere...
