That's correct, you will not need the disc, if you use the digital version of the game.

If you want to buy the game, you can get the disc version of it from online stores such as Amazon or from your local game retailer. If you want the digital version, you can purchase that straight from the Microsoft store, which will install to your Xbox
One. If you want to play the Multiplayer aspect of the game, then you will need a gold subscription. If you only intend to play the single player campaign, then you do not need a gold subscription.

You can buy the disc if you want OR buy it on the store, you don't need Xbox Live Gold to play it. You only need Gold if you want to play online with other people.
