GTA 5 - took about 8 hours to install on Xbox One (digital preorder)

I've preordered GTA 5 on my Xbox One and preloaded it completely during the last week. Yesterday i wanted to play it finally, but of course it needed to be installed first.

I startet the installation about 7:30 pm .. and it took forever. At 1am it was at 46% and it took till about 6am till it was fully installed and ready to download the day one patch. This is really annoying.

I am using a Seagate Backup Plus Slim (2TB) as my primary storage, which usually speeds up things on my Xbox One.

Anyone having the same experience or an idea what was the issue?

Call Of Duty Ghosts on demand how long does it take.

so do I have to do a install like gta 5 on demand because it took two hours on gta 5 and its 6:15pm and I have school tomorrow

 

Disc vs Download

I was installing battlefield 4 it took me 4 to 5 hours to install compare to call of duty black ops 3 it took me 30 minutes on disc . I was reading about forza 7 install size and the digital install is way to big for me . that
way I getting the disc version of this game and not doing the update

 

Raphiniert, I think there is a bug with preloading. I had the same thing with Halo: MCC but not with Forza. It seems if you try to play it shortly after midnight, it will take you to the store and it shows
"you can play this on 18/11/14". It then realises that it is now that day and it then briefly displays
"install". Now one of two things will happen,

1. You wait for a few more seconds and it then realises it is already installed and you can begin playing once it says
   "Play Now".
2. You press [a] when it says "install" and it will actually start the WHOLE download again.
   

So I think number 2 happened to you and it began the full download again. Hence why it took so long. I hope this issue gets addressed soon as it defeats the point of preloading.

 

Hey guys, I bought the digital of gta5 yesterday and began installing it. It began at 6:45pm and 'finished' at 3am the next day. However when i clicked on it to play, it popped up saying i needed to update it so it began and after 20 mins it said i could
begin playing which i tried. Big mistake. Now it is on the gta5 startup screen and is saying "installing 44%" and when i go back to my games and apps it says "updating 14%"??? Also it has been stuck on that for an hour. Why did the first installation restart
again, it seems that both the installation and the update are both in progress but i cant pause the update without pausing the installation!!! Would it be worth restarting?

 

I purchased this at 5pm on Tuesday the 18th and it's now 10:16pm on the 19th and I'm STILL waiting on the install to complete. I've gotten 50% and it's taking FOREVER to complete. The worst part about it is my console has download over 120 GIG's worth of
data in the last 24 hrs or so and the game is still nowhere near ready. This, btw, is not a pre-order, it was purchased off the store. Another issue is my console isn't taking full advantage of the bandwidth given by my ISP -- 18 meg - and I'm downloading
at anywhere from 50 kb/s to 2.03 mb/s.... does anyone have any ideas how to rectify that? I'm in the UK, on BT and have a home hub 4 (which sadly I can't amend the MTU on).....

 

StevieGee911 there was a day one update to the game. They patched the game plus add a achievement and reduesed some GS on a few achievements. I hope clear up the update part. But the thing is. You never will stop the update from downloading at this time
from a digital download. Only way is to stop from downloading the update. If you where doing it from disk.

did any of you guys get the 1 million and the returning content because i didn't get anything

 

i have the disk i started installing around 12:00pm today it is now a quarter past 2 and it is at 1%.

this is a joke. its quicker to install games on a pc (used to be one of the advantages to playing on consol come home and pop it in and play). i will probably buy less games because of this special feature not to mention my harddrive will be full after this.

add to the i cant join parties with my friends while paying for premium service is kinda making me regret sticking with xbox at the moment.

and *** it im not sitting here for 24hrs waiting for a disk to install on my day off.

 

I have the disc Went through the install bull last night played for a little then turned on to play tonight and it made me install an update it's has been almost three hours and 23% done . This system has been nothing but a constant disappointment and

Man this not right someone please help me I start download this game 3days ago and it go to 59% and just reinstall it to see if that would help that don't help now all its saying is installing this not right I want my money back

 

This is some serious ***. I stuck with Xbox because I have alot of digital content I purchased and didn't want to pay twice for access to it if I switched over to Sony, however after the constant parade of fuckups that has been my experience with this piece
of crap new system I am debating on going back to PS exclusively. I just bought gta 5 tonight. Been installing since 6pm, now 11:51 I am at 13%. This is dumb as hell. My 2005 Hp can install games faster than this. What the hell is the problem with this weak
*** technology that they are using?

 

OH, and I am installing from a hard disk, what the *** XBONE?

 

If you have it on disk! dont install it with the internet.. turn the internet off. and then click install game.. takes at least 20 minutes.

OMG I THINK IT'S WORKING! I've been installing for almost 24 hours and it was barely at 49%. I turned off my internet but it stopped installing when I did that so I cancelled the installation and restated it. I regretted it after it said 1% but it's been
less than 5 minutes and it's at 23%!!! :O Thanks Enigma! I'm just hoping it doesn't get stuck at 49% :S
