GTA 5 disc will not install

My GTA 5 disc will not install. I have an Xbox One from 2018. I have tried the following:

1. Checked the space on my hard drive. I have more than enough.

2. Checked for any console updates. Everything is updated.

3. Downloading only the disc offline (not connected to the internet). It still does not download the base game.

4. Clearing any save files on my console, and it still does not download.

5. Checked the disc for scratches and/or dirt. Very minimal scratches and it is clean. The disc worked fine 2 years ago, now all of a sudden, it does not.

6. Rebooting my xbox after pulling the power cord out. Still does not download.

I have saw the community has had trouble with this A LOT. I am starting to believe Microsoft is trying to have people buy the game again digitally. This is robbery and I should not have to buy another copy of a game I already have.

You're not suppose to install the play disc. There is a thread in the GTA 5 forum of why not to install it.

That has absolutely nothing to do with what the OP is talking about. He is having problems installing the mandatory install of Disc 1..That article is talking about installing Disc 2 to a USB because of pop in textures...which is the play disc....

Hi there,

It's true they originally said they do not recommend installing the game disc to the Hard Drive, however, it has been shown that installing the game disc to a USB drive and the installation disc to the Hard Drive gives better performance.

Disc rot is typically microscopic,

There is no conspiracy this is just a fact of life with multi layer discs. You open up a little hole to some oxygen and a way it goes. you should always store discs upright in their cases in a cool, dry, preferably dark place

I have an extremely large disc collection and many examples of rot with every single medium from CD to 4K

gta v comes with 2 discs a install disc and another disc to actually play the game soif you havent already try putting in the other disc and wait about 5 minutes and it should work
