GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas no longer play on my 360 Elite

I tried to play the three titles above on my old original 360 Elite console and none would work, my console still plays all my 360 games but those three are from the original X Box console. I did all the usual things e.g. cleared the cache, removed the
hard drive, ethernet cable but still no go. I still have saved games for all those discs on my hard drive but get an error # 03-80-00/ unrecognized disc (none of the discs are damaged)

I assume this problem came from an update to my console software which is up to date as far as X Box Live is showing

GTA 3,Vice City and San Andreas those were the good times.

Hey there Mr Flagg61,

Are you using an Official Microsoft Xbox hard drive? Are you able to play any other Original Xbox disc based games on the console?

Yes, it is the original 120 Gig HD that came with my console and the only other Xbox game I have is Forza Motorsports and it will not play either, I just checked.

I didn't go and see if that title was on the backward compatability but I know the GTA titles are.

 

Hmm, the console does need to be connected to Xbox Live in order to obtain the update which will allow the games to be played. You'll also need to have the Hard Drive installed on the console. Are any discs working? Do you see any scratches or smudges on
the bottom of the discs?

My console is always connected to the net, as I said above,none of the discs are damaged, the HD is always on the console unless I'm trying to see if it is causing a problem. I have game saves from all those discs except GTA 3 because I deleted it to see
if that might be causing the problem, it still plays all my 360 format games but will no longer boot up the ones from the original X Box format. X Box Live does not prompt me to install any updates.

My console is always connected by cable to the internet unless I am checking it, as I said above none of the games are damaged. I can play my 360 format games but the original titles will not boot, it says reading and then gives
me the unrecognized disc code. When I'm online X Box Live does not prompt me to install any updates, it plays the 360 games so my disc drive is working and it loads the last save for those games which means my HD is functional
