Good solution to weak headphone amp in controller?

I'm wondering if anyone has found a good, clean solution to the weak headphone amp in the Xbox Core Controller? The DAC and amp in it are rather poor and I find it struggles to power a descent pair of headphones. With my Sennheiser HD579's I have to listen at 80-90% for a good listening volume and even then it lacks almost any bass.

I don't understand why Microsoft doesn't allow us to connect Bluetooth headphones but if they are going to force us to connect to the controller than the very least they could do is include a good DAC and amp in it.

I know you can get external amps but I don't want any more wires to get tangled up in or an amp on my lap that's always in the way.

I thing audio is every bit as important as the graphics and I would happily paid another $5-$10 if it meant getting good quality audio.

    :)

Good solution to weak headphone amp in controller?

A good DAC and amp is very expensive, it’s not going in a controller, heat and power requirements aside. It’s not a feature 95% of users would care enough about to make it standard. A good DAC like Burr-Brown would be as expensive as the rest of the controller all by itself at manufacture.

Buy a good receiver, connect console with HDMI, you're good to go for a large variety of applications. Many of them include your Bluetooth support as well.

Microsoft uses Wifi Direct for accessories, that has a great deal more bandwidth than Bluetooth, and they require security chips be present in all of them. When you buy a PC, you’re paying retail for a device. When you buy a game console, from anyone, that price is usually as close to, and often under, their cost of making it. That money is recovered through game and accessory sales, just like Sony and Nintendo.

Another option is to buy a wireless headset, but I’d audition them. Anything designed to run off a battery will limit bass because it’s hugely power hungry, so you need to find the one right for you

Why are my headphones not giving sound?

Hi, my name is Marvina and I will be happy to help you.

I'm sorry you have this problem. Follow the instructions below for a solution.

If you're having audio issues with groups, try the following solutions.

If you can't hear chat audio when using the Xbox One chat headset, or if others can't hear you, try the following solutions first.

Disconnect the headphones or disconnect the headphone cable from the bottom of the controller and reconnect it firmly.
Check the mute button on the headphone controls to make sure the headphones are not muted.

Illustration showing an arrow and a finger pointing to the sliding mute button on the 3.5mm headphone cable.

Turn up the volume. If you use headphones connected to the 3.5mm port, go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories, then select your controller to adjust the audio options.
Note If you use the headset with a Windows computer, go to Settings, choose Devices, select your controller, and then adjust the audio options.

Try using another controller or headset to see if the hardware is working properly.
Make sure you have the latest software:
    Update Xbox Wireless Controller
Aspects that you should take into account:
Never pull on the headphone cable when removing it from the controller. To remove the headphones, pull on the body of the headphone jack.

The Xbox One Headset is designed for use with Xbox controllers only. Xbox consoles don't stream game sound or music through the Xbox One Headset. If you're looking for an Xbox headset that you can play and chat with, check out:

Set up and troubleshoot the Xbox One Adapter and Stereo Headset
Set up your Xbox Wireless Headset
If the problem persists, try the following solutions:
    Solutions
Examine the headphones, cable, and connector for visible defects.

Make sure there is no dust or dirt on the headphone jack. To clean the connector, use a cotton swab soaked in alcohol.
Check that your Xbox controller is working properly. For help troubleshooting driver issues, see:

Xbox 360 not bad console but controller sucks

Both controllers are perfectly fine for the job.

The d-pad is the weak link on the 360 controller and the trigger (L2, R2) buttons are the weak link on the PS3 controller.

I use both and find them both just as good as each other.
