God dam xbox one

I have to be one of the biggest fans of xbox. Having had every console but one x. I was playing forza 7 doing a 1,000 lap race of witch I wad 980 laps in. The console updated restarted I lost everything I've done all them laps 18 hours plus of game play.
Thanks Microsoft. I ripped the console out of my tv with force and binned it. Controller aswell 71 games total gone. **** MS **** the lot. What a crock of ****

dam dam dam, I had GH3 on my wii but I gave it to my niece and bought the 360 version because I wanted that DLC, thats basically the only reason that I bought it again on the 360!!

Was it 18 hours continuous gaming? As if not you should have had a few game saves at least.

Still a stupid thing to do though, should have just turned off auto updates.

 

Are you serious? The xbox should be able to tell you're in game and not update until said game is shut down, auto update without that ability is useless.

 

I've never had my x1 set to 'auto update,' but do remember being in a game when. "Time to update" pops up and the only options you have is. "Update now" or "Go offline."

Either choice ruins your game with no way to save your progress.

Lets face it, with Xbox One "priority one" from "day one" was never the gamer.

 

As I have both in game notifications turned off, and uncheck the keep system up to date as well as keep games & apps unchecked - never happended to me it aborted anything.

I was playing a game when the last dec 7th came - and discovered this after - so know it works.

Games themselves though check each startup if you are online, but then it's not a big problem.

I have this link that I check from pc to see if any system updates - and then go and activate manually.

Maybe once a week or so, more often when close to a month since last, and begin to expect.

 

Got my console in Instant On mode & never been kicked from a game for an update since the xbox one launched.

And yes, I am being serious. As my windows PC has done exactly the same to me on numerous occasions causing me to lose the work that I`ve been in the middle of doing at the time.

As for the whole "I ripped my console out of my tv with force & binned it" thing,yeah right,of course you did.

If that is true then you have bigger issues than not knowing how to set your console up to download updates while it is off so you don't get kicked from a game.

 

The update system could use a few minor improvements. They should have a notification pop to tell you that an update is available and on the update page, it should tell you when it becomes mandatory (i.e. when it's forced upon you, which interrupts what
you're doing).

It is quite easy to not notice an update is there.
