Gmaertag not working?

I made my Microsoft and Xbox accounts close to two years ago, and way back then I changed my randomly generated gamertag to "ashikat413" ... now, I only used this account when I actually had access to an Xbox, of course. Sadly, I haven't in over a year.

Today, in a fit of boredom, I downloaded MineCraft PE and it gives me a popup that I can use it with Xbox live. I thought "screw it, why not?" Logged in with my old account.... and it gave me a randomly generated gamertag..?

Little weird, but whatever I guess. I chose to change my name and it says I've already used my free change (which I have, years ago.) So I went to my account to investigate... and the gamertag is still ashikat413.

So, what's with the random name it gave me? Why can't I use the one I chose 2 years ago?

Edit: Yes, the name I posted this question with is the random name it gave me. It should be my ashi kat tag, I can't think of why that would have offended the regulations in any way, and I'd like to reiterate that when I went to my account, it STILL said
ashikat413, as if that is my tag.

transfering my gamertag to another email

i wish to change my gmaertag to another email,

it doesnt seem to like my gmail can i transfer from hotmail to gmail?

 

Just so I am understanding this correctly you had one account that you made that they gave you a randomly generated gamertag to and changed it to the ashikat413 gamertag.

You then got Minecraft PE and said that you could use it with xbox live and signed in with the email and password you thought was associated with your ashikat413 gamertag but it generated a different gamertag for you?

But when you sign in with your account at account.xbox.com it brings up the ashikat413 gamertag?

Is this AproposBranch9 gamertag the one that was originally given to you before you changed it to the ashikat413? or is it a completely different one?

 

Yes, this is exactly what happened. It IS the same account, but for some reason MY gamertag isnt showing up when I use this account, even though ashikat413 is the one that shows up on the profile itself.

Honestly, I created this account over 2 years ago now, and I dont remember the random one it gave me. I dismissed it and made my own right away. Though, I can say this GT is not familiar, so it seems like it randomly acted like my account is new, when it
in fact is not.

I wouldn't even mind this glitch if I could change it back, but it acknowledges that I already changed it once and I would have to pay to change it again.
