If my friend owns a game license, that would be of the same game I also own, will his account be able to access that game from a hdd created on my xbox, that would be made with my account, without me having to be signed in on his xbox? In other words: can I simply give my friend an xbox one formatted hard disk drive that just so happens to be full of a bunch of games that he legally has access to from his own account? It's such a simple thing to ask for, I feel it should already be built in.

As long as he owns the games on his account too and is online then yes, it will work no problem.

If you install a friends game to you hard drive as long as your xbox can read your disk and pickup up that's it's a modernwarfare 3 disk, it should play off your hard drive with ease.

Install to HD disk always. XBox will then only spin up the disk to confirm that you own the disk. Not only do you lower the risk of scratched disks but you can continue to use scratched ones. For example, I have an old Mass Effect 1 & a Perfect Dark Zero
disk that were scratched; I borrowed a friend's copies to install but can still use my own to play the Hard Disk content.

In the case of GTA V, you need to install the "Install" disk to the Hard Drive and they recommend not to install the "Play" disk to the same drive. However, you could install an unscratched "Play" disk to a USB drive instead. Hopefully, you can then continue
to play GTA V (with the scratched disk for license purposes)

I would recommend you barrow the disk from a friend and install that in the hard drive

@EyEdEaLz, so if I borrow a friend's game and download it to my hard drive and then use my own disk to play, this will no longer be a problem? Or will I still need an undamaged disk? If I tried to download my own disk to hard drive will it make it soundless?
