Gift code not working

    Gift code not working


    I have a $5 gift code from xbox that says it is redeemable by 8/31/2020, so today should be the last day to redeem it, however I keep getting a message saying it is expired. Having spoken to tech via web chat and phone they confirm the code is still valid,
    but were unable to resolve the issue and declined to send me a new code, infact the tech I spoke to over the phone disconnected the call after having me wait on the line for over 30 minutes!

    Are games that are gifted in US compatible in UK?

    If he's gifting through Xbox, no. The gifting system is region locked so the code he sends would only work in the US. He would have to try to find a code somewhere else that would work in the UK.

    yes, gift cards work on the xbox. He'll buy the gift card and redeem the code on his xbox account.

    How to redeem a gift code?

    Gifting is region locked. So yes, if you are not in the same region as the person who gifted you the code, it will not work.

    Some codes are made to work in any region (that's what a worldwide code would be), but others are region locked. Since you live in a region that is not supported, there's no guarantee the codes will work in your region and if you do manage to redeem a gift code, you may still have issues purchasing content since your account region won't match your physical location or the region of the gift card.

    Gifting through Xbox is also region locked. So if you were able to complete a purchase and you gift your friend, it wouldn't work for them because they wouldn't be in the same region as you. It would be better to purchase gifts for your friend through a different retailer where you can get a code that would work in their region.
