gift card code has more than 25 digits

My brother has bought a gift card but he cant activate it. The activation code has more than 25 digits. We tried activating it on both, computer and Xbox One

I found out you have to buy a MSstore gift card with this code than you get emailed the 25 digit code.

I received an invalid code from $10 Xbox gift card preorder promotion, it is nine digits rather than the standard 25 digits. I was instructed by a chat operator to create this post in order to have the correct code sent.

Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Gift card codes are normally twenty five character codes to be redeemed from the console or website. What does your Gift card code look like exactly? Where was it purchased? I suggest returning to the retailer and confirming it was

Where did you purchase the card? Be sure it's an authentic gift card.

 

Customer support, did you bought it at a Mircosoft Store or a differnet store? Do you have the copy still?

 

Does it not have a description with it? Most gift cards have descriptions of where you can redeem them.
