Getting an 0x8024402c error when trying to play Forza Horizon 4 on the Xbox app

Having been playing Forza Horizon 4 (FH4) on Gamepass Ultimate PC for a few weeks prior, I shutdown my computer for the weekend and cameback today only to find that the game showed as installed, but with the 0x8024402c error code and 0b of 79.4gb on a game that had been working perfectly only 3 days beforehand.

I followed the advice other threads had shown about proxy settings, and it didn't help at all - neither did restarting both my computer and router.

When I try to install games, it prompts me to choose an install folder if I select the drive FH4 is installed on (D - and if I choose the folder it gives an error. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this without needing a fresh install of the game?

(p.s. don't look at how little space I have on my C: drive shhh)

If you go to the D: drive (where FH4) and look inside WindowsApps or XboxGames folder
Are you able to see something related to FH4 or not at all?

Also, if you go to Windows settings > apps and features > installed apps
Are you able to see FH4 as an installed app or doesn't appear there?

Milo, please try moving the game to a different drive temporarily:

Click on the three little dots next to FH4, you should be able to see the "Move" button and select a drive with enough space.

After that restart your PC, reset and repair the Xbox app via Windows settings and check if the game appears as playable in the app.

(Or try open it)

If it's playable from there, undo this process. I mean, move again the game to D: drive, restart the PC and check the Xbox app

Okay so I have an extra update: I tried searching my PC for Forza Horzon 4 and trying to run the app that way - and it started perfectly fine?

Still appears with an error next to the installation in the Game Pass app though so I still have an issue somewhere.

Thanks for the reply, yep its definitely still there in the folder and it appears in my windows apps too (see below)

Oddly, though Halo infinite is also installed on the same drive and in the same folder, it is unaffected and runs without issue
