Getting a refund for an unused physical gift card

Hi. A couple months ago I purchased an Xbox Live 1-year gift card from GameStop. However, before I could redeem the code, my Xbox completely bricked. (I've already tried to get it fixed- the warranty has expired and there's nothing repair shops can do for it.) I didn't even scratch off the stuff that hides the code, it's a completely untouched gift card. I tried to take it back to GameStop to get a refund, but there's nothing the store or corporate can do for me, so I'm just trying to see if there's anything Microsoft can do. I'd really like my $60 back, thank you if anyone can help. By the way, I paid for the gift card with cash, if that's of any relevance.

You can always reseller it

It's not likely a store will take it back after so long

Otherwise the resold prepaid market would be dead if stores take prepaid cards back

You do lose.abit if not at least 60%

I've already taken the card back to the store I purchased it from with the receipt, there was nothing they could do for me. The cashier told me to try my luck calling GameStop's corporate customer support, but they said I'd need to contact Microsoft since there's nothing they could do either. I've also gone to the Xbox support page and tried to contact, but apparently I can't call for my specific issue. At this point, ngocphi is right, I might as well find a way to sell the code. If it's still able to be redeemed. Thank you for the reply.

No retail codes are with the retail store

Unfortunately once it's scanned noone can take it back

You have to resell it

Going up the chajn won't help they can't inactivate the code

You just have to sell it there are always retail buyer sites but you take a significant loss more then if you kijiji it

You most likely get 30 -35 max

What I would recommend you do is contact the store where you purchase the gift card, because, since you didn't even scratch it to check out the code, they should accept it as a return and refund you. Because, since you didn't purchase it directly from Microsoft, Microsoft can't refund you for it.

What you could try to do is to contact Microsoft directly, requesting a call back on the website, and check with them if there's anything else you can do. :/
