Getting a free copy of Minecraft on Windows 10 after getting it on Xbox

Back when the Better Together update came out i upgraded from Minecraft: Xbox One edition to just Minecraft for free on the Xbox and now I've seen you are supposedly able to get Minecraft for free on windows 10 if i am signed in on the same Microsoft account
as the one i bought the game with. I have signed in on the right account but it still says i have to buy it and it doesn't show up in my ready to install section. I was wondering what i have done wrong or if this is no longer possible. Any help would be great,

No. There has not been a free version for the PC if you have the game for Xbox. There was a free upgrade if you had the Java edition for PC and upgraded to the Windows 10 version.

Im not sure, that free copy of the windows 10 edition minecraft may to connect to the Xbox live

Unfortunately it is no longer possible to get a free copy. April 20th was the last day to obtain it.

free copy if you bought Java Edition way back when! After Monday, April 20th, 2020, customers who purchased Minecraft Java Edition before October 19th, 2018 will no longer be able to redeem their free version of Minecraft for Windows 10 token code. Until then,
players who bought Minecraft: Java Edition before October 19th, 2018 can still receive a token for Minecraft for Windows 10.

I'm so sorry that you can't reedem your free copy anymore. You'll either have to buy a new copy from the Microsoft store or wait for it to be on sale.

It WAS possible to get Minecraft Windows 10 for free.

However, that offer ended on April the 20th 2020.

So, if you didn't get your free copy already, you now have to pay for the Windows 10 Version.

Sign in the Microsoft Store with the old account. Then, install "Minecraft for Windows 10", it should be free. After that, sign out your old account from the Microsoft Store. Open up "Minecraft for Windows 10", then sign in with your new account. You will
get updates for free if you do the following. I hope this helps.
