Get rid of parent control

Hey there, when I started my Xbox account back when I got my first XBONE, I turned on a parent lock and made an account for my mother even though she knows nothing about games. The lock restricted me to not do stuff and it was ok at first but then it got
on my nerves. Now im 17 and I can look after myself and what games I can play, is there a way to turn off these restrictions, I really want to use a custom photo and such but it won't let me, and I am worried when I turn 18 it's still going to be on. Please
tell me there is a way to turn this off. Thanks

Can't log in with parent account to upgrade to adult account

A while back dad gave me the log in credentials for the parent account so we could get rid of the parent control stuff, but for some reason it won't let neither of us log in.

He told me he had not logged into that account for a while and that you probably have updated the parent control stuff since the last time he logged in.

So now our question is, how do we upgrade my account and get rid of the parent account?

Hey JustWolfblood! The only way to remove those controls entirely will be to wait until you're 18 and your account is promoted to an adult account. Changing your birth date will not work as it tracks your age from the original birth date you entered. Thanks!

There is only one way to disassociate a child account from a parent account. The date of birth on the child account, as entered at account creation, must reflect that you are at least 18 years old (in the US. Age of legal adulthood may vary by country).
You cannot force it to happen early. Changing the date of birth on the account has no effect, nor does deleting the parental account. It has to be allowed to happen naturally. When that time comes, an option will appear in Account Management that will
let you promote your account to adult status.
