I had the same problem few weeks ago.

I bought xbox code frop brasil but i am in France so i get GeoRestriction.

To solve it i used a VPN on my phone and connect into the country where a buy code and with my phone i go to xbox website and i enter the code and it work for me.

So i hope this work for you too.

No, overseas. But everyone here buys US retailer sold codes and it works fine, the first time I renewed the Xbox live subscription it worked , downloaded fifa21 as well, all through the US store, but now for some reason it keeps showing that geo error

Are you also located in the US? Because for gifted codes, they are georestricted and both parties should be on the same region. If this cannot be redeemed because of that problem, you would need to have this gifted code refunded instead.
