Gears Tactics wont install on my pc from xbox gamepass

Hi, So Gears tactics installed and i played it though to almost the end, then it went to update, got halfway through - froze, and said there was a problem and I'd need to uninstall it to fix. So I uninstalled and now it wont reinstall. Going through many
steps eventually I have it to a point where I click install and it starts the download at about 246.7mb of 28.8 Gig at 0% and stays there. Then it stops after a couple of minutes with error code 0x803fb107. It stays in the download que in Microsoft store -
and if i cancel it it uninstalls it then we are back to square one where it starts off 246.7mb of 28.83gb and does nothing except come up with the same error code.

I have a high end gaming PC with no storage issues.

I'm awaiting a response from microsoft as this is apparently a known problem. I have tried these steps to fix but as of yet no luck - has anyone else found or know of anything else on how to fix it ?

I have

- Installed the latest updates for windows restarting after and often twice for luck. It is definitely up to date.

- Uninstalled and reinstalled Xbox betta app. Uninstalled and updated any and all programs related to microsoft store or xbox betta app

- cleared windows cache with wsreset.exe

- reset my microsoft store using windows powershell admin and this link

- logged out and logged in from my microsoft account

- installed the latest graphics update for my nvidia 1080ti - restarted my computer repeatedly

- repaired and reset all the apps related to this - settings, apps, repair / reset

I've looked for the file in C:\Program Files\Windows Apps\ and have administrator privilege to try and uninstall / delete it manually but cannot find any files there matching Gears Tactics

Anyone out there able to offer any help or is it simply a known issue with no fix and we will have to await a response from microsoft ?

Ok so for everyone with the same question here's what i finally found to fix it.

If your windows drivers aren't up to date do that, but I imagine if you're at this point then they are.

Download and install a free version of Proton VPN

After setting that up, open microsoft store app

Then run the VPN but select it to route through somewhere in the same country you're in. Im in australia so i routed it though some client also in australia.

Then go back to the microsoft store app and click install, it'll do what it normally does, stall at about 246mb, then it'll carry on and actually install the whole thing. Or it should.

Once its downloaded you can exit the VPN, Restart everything, then run it from the microsoft store and it should play. It may work the same through the Xbox Betta app, but i didnt bother with the thoughts that if its not broken again, dont fix it.

And also Microsoft your helpine is terrible its been 10 days and no reply because your support staff are usless. The first one tried to tell me it wasn't a known issue and that it was my internet connectivity. I mean, what the hell is that a 10 yr old could
give me better advice. Then she unplugged her phone mic and then couldn't hear me. Or she pretended she couldn't to get rid of me. Then next time I got another person and she said it was a known issue. Your helpline is just the worst.

I have run the SFC scan and it advised there were no errors on my machine. I am still unable to get AOE def 1 to complete install. Gears tactics also won't install but i've been able to install other games from gamepass for the pc without issue

Just downloaded the xbox beta app and started installing Gears tactics from there.

It is at 700MB and going, so definitely think it is something on your side

If you have PC gamepass then you already have gears 5 included in that and dontneed the ulitmate

You would only want too upgrade if you want gamepass for xbox console.

the standard edtion of gears 5 comes out tomorrow that is when you be able too play with your pc gamepass on PC. No need too purachse the game from steam.

Still no solution from Microsoft. Very disappointed to be frank.
