Gears of War 4 won't launch, black screen after logo

I moved Gears of War 4 from my C drive to my D drive as the game became too large with the updates. Now whenever I launch the game I receive a black screen after the gears logo fades out. Looking at my NVidea GeForce app, Windows seems to think Gears of
War 4 is still located in the C drive under the path:

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.SpartaUWP_14.3.0.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\

The Game is definitly located within my D drive, I have uninstalled and reinstalled 5-6 times, all drivers are up to date and so is my version of Windows 10

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on how to hopefully get past this black screen problem.

I can understand how having this problem get in the way for your gaming could be frustrating.

If this is happening consistently, I would say that the best means to troubleshooting would be to follow the steps outlined in Troubleshoot
gameplay issues on Windows 10.

When you get a chance, give those steps a shot and let us know how that helped.

Hi,

How are you attempting to launch the game? Via the GeForce Experience App or the Windows Start Menu? Did you use Windows to move the install to another drive, or did you move the files manually?

Hi thanks for taking the time.

I’ve tried to launch from the windows store, the xbox companion app and from nvidea geforce, all result in black screen.

Moved the app using the move function in advanced settings from the aol list, did not move manually

Hi,

Try moving one of your other games to D: drive, if you don't have a Windows 10 store game to move, try a Steam or other game. Move Gears 4 back to C: and try launching the game again.

Also, unless you really need it, I would suggest removing GeForce Experience app, it's known to cause issues like this.

Once Geforce is removed, put the game back on D: drive again.
