Gaming Services only 8kb and wont update from xbox app or microsoft store. Can anyone help

Please try the steps one at a time to resolve the issue.

Solution 1: Repair and reset the Gaming Services app, Xbox app and the Microsoft Store app.

Please go to Settings > Apps > Apps Features. Select Gaming Services, then click Advanced options. Click the repair button and reset button, do the same for the Xbox app and Microsoft Store app, restart your computer then try launching the game again using the Xbox app, and see if it works.

Solution 2: Uninstall and reinstall the Gaming Services App

Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.

In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:

get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.

Restart your device and try to launch the game again and see if it works.

Solution 3:

Please open the PowerShell in admin mode and paste the following below:

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Thanks for your help Ron. Unfortunately this hasn't resolved the issues. Not sure where to from here (hoping I dont have to reinstall windows). Any thoughts truly appreciated.

Your other games will not be affected as Gaming Services is only used in the Xbox app and Microsoft Store.

Gaming services is not the Xbox app, it works as an add-on and the Xbox app games will only work if it is installed on your pc. You can download it from the link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/gaming-servic...

You can also be downloaded through the Microsoft store after deleting his records, to download directly from the Microsoft Store, open it and in the upper right corner click on the 3 dots (...) Downloads and updates and it will be there to be downloaded again, if not, click on get updates.

To play xcloud games you must have an Xbox controller or compatible controllers, the keyboard and mouse will not work.

sorry to hear. Maybe you only have to check this:

• Check if there are Updates pending in the Store APP: Select the Start
  button, and then from the apps list, select Microsoft Store. In Microsoft Store, select See more/Downloads and updates/Get updates.
• Check if all 4 XBOX Services and the 2 gaming service are running (via taskmanager).

In order to fix this, kindly update your Xbox gaming services and Microsoft Store, here's how:

Xbox gaming services

Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.

Select Library.

Under Updates & Downloads, check if there are any updates available for the Xbox app or Gaming Services app. If an update is available, select Update.

Update Microsoft Store

Select Start, then from the apps list, select Microsoft Store. In Microsoft Store, select Library > Get updates. If an update for Microsoft Store is available, it will start installing automatically.

Once you're done, try to check if the issue still persists.
