Gaming Services not working, not letting me download anything on the Xbox app

Based on the description you posted, it seems that you have an issue with Windows wherein even after resetting your Windows and running a command on your PowerShell you are still unable to download anything on your Xbox app as your Gaming services is not working properly.



Common cause: When attempting to install or reinstall Minecraft in Windows 10 via the Microsoft Store, the error code 0x80070002 is frequently displayed. It frequently involves a data corruption fault that manifests itself when users are unable to get system updates due to missing files in a Windows update. The Minecraft program was unable to install properly due to the issue, which is most likely a computer system issue.

Let’s work together in finding the best solution to this issue.



For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:

• Have you already tried to repair the app from your settings?

• When you have performed a reset on your Windows did you selected Keep files and apps?



In the meantime, we would like you to try creating a new user profile and reinstall your Gaming services app. And check if it has the same behavior.

Here's how: Create a local user account

1. Select Start > Settings > Accounts and then select Family & other users. (In some versions of Windows you'll see Other users.)
   
2. Select Add someone else to this PC.
   
3. Select I don't have this person's sign-in information, and on the next page, select Add a user without a Microsoft account.
   
4. Enter a user name, password, or password hint—or choose security questions—and then select Next.

If the issue still persist, try running SFC Scannow and DISM Tool

Here's how:

Now perform an SFC scan and a DISM tool

1. Press your Windows key and type: cmd, then right-click on it and select "Run as administrator".

2. Now type these command lines:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleaning-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

SFC /scannow

.

3. After that, hit enter on each of the command lines and wait for each process to complete.

4. Once done, it will give you a report on how your system is corrupted and how you were able to fix it all.

i repaired gaming services and the xbox app no longer prompted me to download anything, but the issue of it saying "could not load instillation location, try again" was still apparent, so i reset gaming services as well and the progress bar for the reset was frozen, i closed that window and tried to find gaming services in installed apps again, and now it won't show up. Also the xbox app is asking me to download again.

This didn’t work either. It lets me reinstall the gaming services but then it refuses to register on my computer and says I still need to download it even after doing so. It also leaves me with error code 0x87e00196, on the Xbox app when I try to download from there.

Some questions and clarifications needed and some steps to try so we can make sure that we pass on the correct guidance.

• Are Game Bar, The Microsoft Store App, and your PC as a whole all updated (as well as any additional Xbox Apps like the accessories app)?
  
• Is this a newly rising issue (the app worked prior) or is this your first download of the App?
  
• I noticed in your services you have no Xbox services running when the app is opened. Could you open game bar and see if these services begin to run:
  
  • Xbox Accessory Management (if you have the accessories App downloaded)
    
  • Xbox Live auth Manager
    
  • Xbox Live Game Save
    
  • Xbox Live Networking Service
    
• Can you open the Microsoft Store App and go to the page with the Xbox App and let me know in the Additional Information section, let me know what the installed version is.
