Gamesharing not giving Xbox live access?

Just to confirm, is Home Xbox enabled in the account that owns the subscription in your Xbox?

If yes, this can be a bit odd. But can you try creating a family group with your parent?

For this go here with any of the accounts here:
https://account.microsoft.com/family/home

And invite the other account, select it as family organizer .

Then, try waiting 10 minutes after that, then power cycle the console and try again.

If maybe you need to know how to power cycle:

1. Turn off your console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds, until it shuts down completely.
2. Unplug the console's power cable from the console and from the power outlet. Wait 5 minutes.
Important: Be sure to wait at least 5 minutes. This step resets the power supply.
3. Plug the console power cable back in.
4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it on.

This is not the place to ask for gamesharing, i also recommend you not to ask this anywhere else either.

As with gamesharing you're giving someone else full access to your account.

So me gamesharing with him doesnt give me xbox live just the game pass.

The concept of gamesharing is for the use in a single household where there is more gamers. Not designed for sharing with your friend that lives somewhere else. As you are giving each other access to the accounts which is against the code of conduct.
