Games with gold overwritten my game license that I bought years ago ?

Hi, I went to download Batman: The Enemy Within a game that I purchased years ago which is now free for gold this month. When the download started, I noticed it says: You can play Batman: The Enemy Within - Episode 1 with your Xbox Live Gold or buy it
to own. but purchased it years ago. When I click on But it to own it asks me to pay again. I can perfectly find it in my order history on account.microsoft.com.

You may wanna check carefully. Some games have several versions in store. Did you buy whole series or one episode, if you bought series, is there more than one listed in store?

Or did you buy the season pass separate from "complete edition"

Game like those that are split into episodes can be weird since they have multiple store pages. Have you checked your Owned Games and made sure it is still there?

Its the whole series that I bought, It did say that I owned it before I download again

With these games sometimes it doesnt show you bought the full game until you are in the game and then it shows you have bought the season pass.

The game version available on GwG is "The Complete Season", so don't worry about that, you have the purchase record linked to your account. If in the future you had difficulty installing the game, just contact support.
