Games with Gold game doesn't recognize active subscription

Sometime ago, I installed Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide with the 'Games with Gold' monthly discount for having an active Gold membership. Sometime after I uninstalled the game, my subscription expired; now I have an active subscription, that expires
next year, and have recently reinstalled the game only for it to tell me that "This game was acquired using Games with Gold. Unless the person who acquired it has Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you'll need to buy the game if you want to play it.
If the buyer's subscription is current, try quitting and relaunching the game" followed by error code (0x803f800f). And I can testify that my subscription is current as I downloaded and can launch Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero, which is a currently available Games
with Gold game. I also don't use a recurring billing either, and I can't find a troubleshoot guide on Microsoft that helps. I would appreciate if someone would explain what do I do.

My bad, turns out the main reason was because I didn't have my Xbox set as the home Xbox.

That is weird because if the license for the game through games with gold was not on the account you should not have been able to even redownload the game itself.

Have you tried removing your profile from the console and adding it back?

Have you tried doing a powercycle of the console by

Holding down the power button on the front of the console for about 5 seconds for the console to turn off.

Then unplug it for approximately a minute.

Plug it back in and power it back on and see if this helps any?

A game doesn't recognize whether a player has a trial or paid Gold subscription. Perhaps the individual you're trying to play with doesn't have Gold?

No. It doesn't even require an active subscription since it's a 360 Games with Gold game. You just needed Gold at the time it was free to redeem it.
