Games through xbox run terrible unless alt tab

Every time I try to play a game through Xbox Game Pass, it runs awfully. It feels like I'm getting 10 - 0.5 fps. However when I alt tab, the game runs at a smooth 120 fps or whatever. I have no idea what is going on. I've played around with Nvidia settings yet nothing seems to work. If I can find a way to change the game from fullscreen to windowed or borderless through the slideshow of a game, then it runs smooth for 5 seconds and the problem reoccurs. A similar problem happens in steam, primarily with Halo Infinite, but maybe that game just destroys my cpu anyways. I also never had this problem before but I have for the last month or so. Something to note is that before this, about a month ago, every time I opened Xbox App, it redirected me to the Windows Store to an app called "Gaming Services." It wasn't an app that I could delete or even open, yet when I deleted the Xbox App, I was no longer redirected and the problem that I referred to earlier first appeared. Odd. Anyways, if anyone knows what's going on, please let me know.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Did you find a fix or are you still having issues?

An overclocked CPU shouldn't be a problem, but I wouldn't have thought HP would do this anyway. What type of display are you running your PC through and what settings have you set your games to?

Halo Infinite is CPU heavy, but equally it's also very GPU heavy. What graphics and resolution have you set for the game?

Hey thanks for responding. My specs are:

i7-9700

gtx 1660 ti

32 gb 2666 ram

256 gb nvme ssd

1 tb hhd

500w power supply

Its a prebuilt HP Omen Obelisk and I'm pretty sure the cpu has been overclocked with this computer before it was shipped. Not sure if that is messing with my computer. Also when I say alt-tab, I mean that I press alt+tab and hold on alt to preview all my tabs. When I preview my tabs, I notice that the game runs very smoothly, yet it is only when I tab back into the game that it is unplayable. Hope that helps

Alt-Tab switches between open applications. Don't you mean Alt-Enter? Can you tell us your system specs please?

Just to clarify - if you alt tab out of a full screen game to a window that's
not covering your entire wallpaper (i.e not maximised), is the game minimised? Or is the game still visually running in the background for you, blocking your view of the wallpaper?

If I alt + tab from game that's running full screen then my game is minimised to the Taskbar. I must remind you that unless you have another application either running on the desktop or also minimised, alt + tab won't take you anywhere. If I hold the keys
down, my game shows in a small window in the middle of the screen. When I let go of the buttons it goes back to full screen.

On pretty much all of my games, if I press the Windows Key on my keyboard, it automatically displays the Start menu and my game is minimised completely.

While a game is minimised, it still uses system resources such as in RAM, CPU and GPU cycles.

There is nothing special about my PC configuration. Standard Windows Settings. I built the PC myself it's an i7 8700, 16GB and an RTX 2080 graphics card.

I can see that you are having issues with you Minecraft Game wherein the FPS is dropping. Based on what you have posted you are using Sodium which is a type of Minecraft Mods.
