    Hello,

    I am having an issue with Xbox Games Pass for Windows 10. Specific
    games will not install or update on specific hard drives. I am wondering if anyone can help me solve this issue, as I cannot find anyone with the same problem. Let me explain in more detail below.

    All my games are installed on my G: Drive. Recently, Forza Horizon 4 and
    Sea of Thieves had updates which failed to install. They both displayed the error code: 0x80070005 (see image below).

    Following advice from the microsoft help page, I tried troubleshooting this error to no avail. Instead, I decided to re-install Sea of Thieves to see if that would fix the issue; however, after uninstalling, I received the same error message and
    the game would not install on my G Drive at all. I then tried to install another game (Deep Rock Galactic), which installed normally to my
    G Drive. I then tried installing Sea of Thieves to my
    A Drive, and weirdly this also worked fine.

    I still have the error for my Forza Horizon 4 update, and deleting
    Sea of Thieves     to re-re-install it on my G Drive still doesn't work. Even so,
    Deep Rock Galactic will install and update on my G drive. (see image below).

    What is going on? Why are some specific games only installing/updating on specific drives?

    If anyone has any insights, they would be much appreciated.

    Xbox game pass on PC

    Hi prankonic,

    If the game is available on the pc you will need to install the game, not all games from game pass for the console are play anywhere games.

    Is there a specific game you are looking for?

    Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. This sounds like a game specific issue, but I will do my best to try and help figure out this issue.

    Was the in-game feature available to you throughout the entire game at lower difficulties and you now cannot use the machine at that specific point in game and on that specific difficulty? It sounds like a game specific bug but have you completely rebooted
    your PC? I'm assuming you are playing this game on a Windows 10 PC through the Xbox Game Pass for PC.

    After fully rebooting your PC and restarting the game, is the machine still not working in-game? Go ahead and uninstall the game from your drive and then re-install it if the feature is still not working for you.

    Thanks, I accidentally restarted my old pc and it seems the pc game pass updated and I can no longer install the dlc for the game on that pc now. The old version of the game pass dlc worked fine. I am try to dona restore to see if that works but I highly doubt it. But hopefully someone knows how to fix this as there are a plethora of issues online with this specific error code.

    Hi,

    I'm sorry about your problem, but if your intention was to run PC games on that machine I'm afraid it won't be possible. The vast majority of PC games are designed for Intel 86/64 and AMD64 based processors. Unless a game specifically supports ARM64 then it won't work on your device.

    The processor in your device is essentially the 'brains' of your computer, it's a specific piece of hardware and you can't update with software updates Windows. If your hardware isn't support then a game can not be run.

    Thanks for the update on the issue. Try installing the game specifically on the internal drive instead of the external drive. Once installed and launch, then move it to the external HD. Personally have had this issue with games on an external drive. Once
    installed on internal they worked great.
