    Games no longer showing and my WD Passport external HDD is reporting full


    I have had my WD Passport external HDD storing and running my games on my Xbox One X since I got the console. After the latest console update I could no longer see the games on my external drive. When I tried ALL of the troubleshooting steps on Microsoft's
    website (rebooting, hard reboot, disconnecting and reconnecting HDD, moving HDD to a different USB, etc etc etc) I can see the HDD but it is reporting 100% full and no games show up on it. I thought this was just my issue... maybe a corrupt drive etc. But
    then my brother had the exact same issue happen on his Xbox One X and now two other good friends of ours are having the EXACT same issue. What the heck did you do Microsoft? This is NOT the way to convince me to go get the new console.

    Some External HDD have different performance, for example I have a WD passport X and when the HDD it's over 50% usage have some issues with the games. (Don't load)

    I would agree if the Xbox one couldn't use an external HDD, but it can, so the 500GB HDD was plenty to begin with. 1 TB xbox ones are also available right now.

    The WD HDD Book version is just as good as the passport, they both use WD HDD drives. Mine has run since the update and works perfect!

    Also, just thought I'd add a few thoughts that may help.

    First, I think The Witcher 3 is around 35GB. If your HDD is just over half full, you should still have plenty of room for it, I'd say.

    Ever considered getting an external HDD? I got a WD - 1TB My Passport Ultra for pretty cheap, just after they added support of external drives (which was around November if memory serves). It's working fine. I have all my games on it. JMO, but that is the
    best way to make space.

    like this     and it's been working fine since I got it, which was only a few weeks after external HDD support for XB1 was introduced.

    My wife also has a WD My Passport on her XB1, just not the Ultra Metal Edition and it also works fine. You should have no trouble with it, as Smwutches said, as long as it's USB 3.0, but just thought I'd give you a bit more piece of mind by telling you that
    I have personal experience with 2 of them and they both work with no issues.
