Games for Windows Live (or whatever) freezes up my game when I log in.

So.

First off.

Games for Windows Marketplace (Or Windows Games Live as it's called in the bar that pops up) is absolute garbage.

I booted up Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City with my wife so we could play it together. It asks us to log in, otherwise it won't save our progress nor let us connect to each other's games.

Problem is, though, that even with deleting the service, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting and THEN starting up the game is still doesn't work. I have tried deleting the download cache, stopping Windows Upate, doing the reinstall-loop several times and
nothing works.

We're both on PCs

We're both running it through steam

Both with the newest update of Windows 10 and gfwLive.

Please fix this broken piece of software or remove it entirely from any games that it is infecting.

Hello!

Microsoft dropped support for the Games for Windows Live service long ago, when Windows 7 was still their most recent operative system. The application has severe compatibility issues with Windows 10, that is why your "Frankenstein" solution was required.
There really is no other way around that. Some developers released updates to remove the GFWL integration from their games, making them perfectly playable and compatible, but with games that didn't receive such patches, that workaround is required.

The app didn't let me log in, but we managed to get it going after 6 different work-around and 2 hours of work. The Xbox app works just fine, but GFW is incredible unstable. We managed to get it working by deleting a HKreg file, stopping Windows Update,
reinstalling GFW, changing the password on GFW on their website (which took forever to load us in), running the game in Windows 7 compatibility mode, opening the game, running the app, closing the game, logging in, running the game again and then logging in
through the game which forced an update of GFW, making us shut off the game, wait for the update, reboot and start the game.

With services like Steam and even the Xbox app working effortlessly, it seems rather silly to have an outdated piece of software so fiddly that does little to nothing but function as a bridge between the game and the Xbox App.

Yes, I'm frustrated with it, but I honestly thought that Microsoft would do better.

You can report any issue with the app directly from the feedback/report a bug feature, in order to bring the issue to the support's attention.

When I'm logged into one of my three accounts my game freezes. So I log out of everything and can play. I log back in while still in the game and the game freezes again. Is anyone else getting this?

All of the apps on your Windows 8 machine will use whatever account is used to sign into the computer. You will want to logout of the account you're currently using and then log into Windows 8 using the account that is associated with your Xbox Live account.
Then, when you launch the game, it will automatically log you into your Xbox Live account.
