Games for Beginners

I am gifting an XBox and just wanted to know what five games would be good for a beginner and why they would be god for a beginner. Thanks in advance.

Some people use the Player matches to try out new characters or new combos before going into Ranked.

Personally W/L ratio means nothing and I just play for fun so always go ranked just to get matches quicker. But online competitive modes always have those who would prey on the new guys for cheap wins, losing is also a way of learning as well so all balances
out

What NRS should do is limit the rooms by rank or wins/losses. That way, when you hit a certain threshold, you won't be able to go back into it. This will allow players of similar skill levels to effectively compete without having to worry about getting slaughtered.
If someone wants to try out a new character or combos, they should try using offline practice mode by themselves or online practice with a friend, which I recommend.

I'm a high-ranking player (in the top 900 players on Xbox Live), & I occasionally go to the beginner's lobby, but not to show off or get easy wins. I simply want to show new players what they could be capable of & often invite many of them into an online practice
to show them just how deep the game really is. I've made many new friends this way.

 

which xbox? original, 360, or one?

 

I would get the games "Xbox Live Arcade Compilation Disc" and "Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged" because there are a few simple games on each of the discs that are very enjoyable. The discs are also quite cheap. I would also get a racing game, such as "Sonic and
All-Stars Racing Transformed", which is a fun and easy to play game. Other games, such as "Viva Pinata Party Animals" and "Box Office Smash Scene It" are great beginner multiplayer games. This of course all depends on the age of the person.

 

Can't argue with silver cube. There are plenty of downloadable arcade titles as well that are simple to control and enjoyable as well. It would help to know the age of said beginner to make an appropriate suggestion

 

That's a great point. Sorry I forgot to mention age. The person is 13 so I guess any games for pre-teens/teens.

 

If I was 13, I would enjoy the above games I mentioned. Shooting games would be up to the parents to decide (as I did not mention any). However, there are quite a few shooting games that are T-rated, but these are a bit more complicated to control. The games
I mentioned above are games that are mainly simple to control and enjoy without a steep learning curve. If the 13 year old likes certain TV shows, there are lots of Xbox 360 games, such as Naruto, Cartoon Network, Adventure Time, etc. Minecraft is also very
popular and while it may take a little while to learn, it is very popular with young teens.
