Games drop to dashboard loading or power Xbox off

Hi some games either drop to dashboard while loading or turn the console off.

i power my xbox on from the mains every day so it boots from a cold boot some games either drop to dashboard while loading or power the xbox off.

i have removed the external hdd done a full console reset and reinstalled the games that play up same fault happens if i try a different game the console will play all day no problems so not a overheating problem just a few games that play up.

i have also put my external hdd on another xbox and logged into my account on that xbox and the games work fine on that xbox.

any ideas

I would say try Power cycle/reset

If that does not work then try a ‘soft’ factory default reset and make sure you choose the Reset and keep
my games & apps

I have this problem with forza horizon but i have 300 games installed across 1 internal and 3 external hdd so in my case i need a clean out

hi everyone, see a few posts with no answers to the controller sync problems and games dropping back to the dashboard, simple fix, power up the console, wait for the dashboard to load, unplug controller, and then unplug the xbox power lead from the wall,
plug controller back in, the xbox should load up and BOOM!! your controller is working and so are your games

Hi Rosario,

It seems that your Xbox is still in Instant-On mode as it starts up on your dashboard. If you changed to Energy-Saving mode, the change may not have taken affect as in energy saving mode the Xbox will do a full boot up whenever you startup the Xbox and see
the green loading animation.

When you restart or shut down the Xbox through the settings, you are forcing your Xbox to do a full reboot and not be on Instant-On mode which is simply a low power or sleep mode when the Xbox is off and that allows a quicker startup straight to the dashboard.
Turning off the Xbox with the power button in Instant-On mode will just cause the Xbox to go into the low power mode and startup without the green loading screen.

Go back into your power settings as mentioned by Brad above and make sure energy-saving is selected in the middle column drop-down box. Then hold down the power button on the Xbox for about 10 seconds until the Xbox shuts down. Restart the Xbox. It will
do the full reboot with the green screen. Once on the dashboard, turn off the Xbox with the controller or by pressing the power button on the console and see if the startup reboots from the green loading screen.

Tried this and it worked, sort of.

Power off, pull hdd and USB to get Xbox to load the dashboard.

Over to network settings and disconnect from wireless and/or unplug Ethernet.

Power off, plug storage back in, power up.

After your signed in you can reconnect you network. Try connecting to Live then. It worked for me, BUT the next time you have to load the dashboard ex. Quiting a game, it will lock up again. (Did this just to check)
