Games Crash and Shut Xbox Down

Like everyone else I had trouble with COD Modern Warfare with the game keep crashing. Now Activision has seemed to have solved that problem other games and apps are starting to do it.

Games will freeze and then go back to the dashboard or shut the Xbox down.

I have uninstalled games and apps, tried installing the on an external and internal hard drive and still get the same problem.

Im starting to think the COD problem may have damaged my XBOX One X.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums for advice on how to hopefully get your console back in working order. I can totally understand how terribly distressing an issue like this could be for anyone to experience. In instances like this, I suggest trying
a soft factory reset of the console.

It's a reset of your console back to factory settings but one that does not uninstall any of your games or apps and is a really good troubleshooting step for most issues.

When you get the chance, try following the steps here on
How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One, selecting the option denoted reset and keep my games & apps and let us know how that helps with the issue.

Hey there, so let’s try to run down a list of what to try and get this fixed for you hopefully

so for the moment I would delete modern warfare and keep it off the Xbox just to get everything under control. I also would try to run everything off the internal hard drive only and not leave the external hard drive plugged in. And then the next two things
I can think of is checking under System settings to clear the cache memory out, and as soon as you do that, hold the power button down for 10 seconds to do a hard reset.

Then turn the system back on and see if that makes any difference. For the moment leave the external hard drive unplugged and don’t install modern warfare just yet and try some games and see what happens

I bought this game earlier tonight and I keep getting the same crashes. Where the whole one x shut down and I have to walk over and press the power button. I've never had any game crash so hard it shuts down my system

Same thing happened to me. I had bought the $60 version. That was my problem. It was for the Xbox One and is known for crashing the new systems. You will first make sure you have at least the $70 cross gen version. Then go to "Manage Games & Apps" and go
to full library and purchased, find Cold War and you should see two versions, one has the X|S logo. That is the one you want to install.

And yes... thanks Activision for making this harder than it should be with no free upgrade or Smart Delivery... *shakes fist*
