Gamertag won't update?

Hello, I've been playing on my PC, cross-platform with friends. I decided to change my gamertag from "fartdart1234567" to "". The name was available and I payed the $10 for the change. I purchased
the name change a week ago and it still has not updated, whether I check my account or ask my friends if it changed. I just want to know how long this will take to update and that's all.

gamertag availability

Hi there,

I'm afraid that if the service says the gamertag is unavailable then there is no way around it other then selecting a different gamertag.

Also keep in mind that spaces or Upper/Lower case characters won't make a gamertag unique.

So for example if ABC123 already exists, abc123, abC 123, A BC12 3 etc. are all considered the same and won't be available.

Searching for AbC 123 won't result in finding a match, but won't be available as gamertag ABC123 is already taken

My Gamertag Won't Change

Okay so I wanted to change my gamertag on the xbox 360 and I chnaged it but I got the error code 80153051, and then I got an email that I got a billing conformation for my gamertag change but it didn't change, so i tried again and the exact same thing happened.

You may want to read through the gamertag update FAQ https://support.xbox.com/help/account-profile/profile/gamertag-update-faq

There is a # with gamertags that will show up in games that have been updated to work with the new change. Games that haven't updated yet won't show the #.

Since the new update you won't be able to get that gamertag now, which is disappointing, but we all have to deal with it.

No it will cause you to sign in and sign out of xbox live just briefly but then it will update many things such as glitched gamertags in parties or things not updating but it won't effect your game saves.
