Gamertag was changed due to a bug?

we've solved the problem: create another account and see if your actual name is available, if yes, create an account and go for it.

If not, try to change your name twice: one time for another one, then back to RueMur. Might cost you 20 bucks, but hey you got your name.

Yeah that’s happened to me. That’s why when i’m about to change my gamertag, I pay close attention to see if it has the digits at the end. If yours wasn’t taken and it still gave you numbers, you can try asking Xbox to change it back to how you
wanted it.

That is what we are trying to achieve: upon account creation I was on the main menu of the game, Halo, so everything should be fine. My name went through.

If I type for example "royal" when I want to create an account, it says its taken upon the creation window. Mine was not.

Another ambassador told me the system neeeds one to wait like 48h so it gives you the name ingame, but we all did not wait that long as no one knew to wait at all.

Hi there, So you made a Xbox account and had the original Skrimsz. It sounds like you didn't wait until it changed over to Skrimsz rather then the default one you were given when making a new Xbox account. Then you say you changed it again because
it wasn't coming up as Skrimsz. Name changes can take up to 48hrs to change to the newly selected one. So if you changed it again your not going to get the original because you already have it and just didn't let it change over. Just like if was to change
my GT to Ripins which I already have it would give me Ripins#

After writing all this I looked up the GT Skrimsz and it has been taken. So I'm not sure now if you the original to being with.

If that gtag is already taken there is no way in heaven on earth for you to claim it.

Ive actually read recently that its a bug with the gamertag system at the moment and is being addressed. I recommend that you contact Microsoft support directly here
if this isn't the case because I can imagine how frustrating it can be to not have your desired gamertag.

Microsoft staff wanted to me to link as many people as I could find with the same problem: so did I and went to steam forums and reddit to address the iusse. Many people since then have responded in my thread, viewn close to 400 people. What else can we
do ?

Is there new information about that issue ?
