Gamertag Release

Hi, Xbox Support told me to post here, I'm not sure really what to do. But basically a gamertag was supposed to be re-released that I want and it still isn't available. And a couple days ago a support person told me he'd pass the gamertag to his supervisor
to release it within 24 hours but this support person told me that's not a thing. How does this problem of getting this gamertag get resolved? Thanks.

Of course a ton of names were taken during the release however you do not know which names or which accounts were renamed as there is no public list nor will support tell you any information. As it is a guessing game

There was never a list of what gamertags were released so there is no way of knowing other than trying to change your tag to the one you want.

If it says the gamertag is unavailable then there is nothing you can do to get that tag.

Gamertag are not an on demand or request service you just have to keep trying or wait for the active person to release it

Sr numbers are useless except on phone calls or chat

Forums is not the place for them as I can call xbox support with that number and find out your name and phone number and address when they do the verification check

As the others already mentioned it could be possible that the gamertag you want to have will be available Maybe in 2021. Keep in mind, that the prefered gamertag could be used on any Microsoft Service. Even if it is not used on the XBox it could be possible
that it is used on Microsoft Office for example. If this is the case the prefered gamertag won´t be available in 2021.

I don't think it's possible because if the account is still active even though not playing as much could not be considered inactive, you could try to keep the generic tag your contacts will see it with the name and not with the series of numbers

Yeah I know, but I don't want to have a numeric tag next to my gamertag, which apparently is displayed on Sea of Thieves... Specially because a guy who don't play since a decade took it haha. I tried to pm him, I will see.

Hey, Defuse! Smwutches and ngocphi have you covered in here, but I wanted to reiterate that once a gamertag is taken, or says it's taken, it is not available for others to take. When a specific GT is selected, it gets a temp hold, while customers complete
the process. The Gamertag will appear reserved. If it's not accepted, then it's released.
